Auch nach seiner Wiederwahl macht US-Präsident Barack Obama nicht den Eindruck, als würde er die besondere Zuneigung, die ihm Europäer und namentlich Deutsche entgegengebracht haben, durch die Wiederbelebung der transatlantischen Partnerschaft erwidern wollen. "Das Beste kommt noch!" ist vielleicht eher auf den asiatisch-pazifischen Raum gemünzt gewesen? Woran liegt es, dass die transatlantische Achse in den letzten Jahren Schieflage hat? Welche Folgen hat eine mögliche Entfremdung, ist sie ein- oder wechselseitig? Und wo liegen eventuell die Möglichkeiten einer Vitalisierung - in einer Freihandelszone, im gemeinsamen sicherheitspolitischen Engagement, im geschlossenen Eintreten für Demokratie und Menschenrechte? Was muss Europa tun, um endlich eine "gemeinsame Telefonnummer" (Henry Kissinger) zu bekommen und als global player auch in Zukunft noch ernst genommen zu werden?
