One month ago, on April 14th, Iran directly attacked Israel militarily for the first time. This Iranian attack is a turning point in the Middle East and dominates the current European and international debate.
For the European Union stability in the Middle East is of high significance. Generally speaking, the EU opts for a different approach vis-a-vis Iran in comparison to that of the USA. Although it recognizes geopolitical challenges, it refrains from employing a muscular foreign policy.
During the discussion Dr. George Tzogopoulos, CIFE Institute and Dr. Cornelius Adebahr, Political Analyst and author of Europe and Iran. The Nuclear Deal and Beyond (Routledge 2017) will focus on the European strategy towards Iran in the new regional and international environment. In so doing, it will endeavor to analyze how the EU could better respond to existing risks, project power and prevent escalation.
