The political leaders and representatives of the biggest Macedonian political parties, together with the director of the Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert Foundations, as well as EU Ambassador Fouere met at the roundtable discussion, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” – Skopje, in order to discuss the values of political pluralism shortly before the start of the campaign for the presidential and municipal elections in Macedonia and the “warm-up” to the European Parliament and German Bundestag elections. Several problems & challenges were identified: the need for mutual collaboration and continual dialogue between the Government and opposition, the need for independent and free media, as well as the need to respect the different political ideologies and strengthen the dialogue between all political parties in the country: this is one of the most important factors determining Macedonia`s EU Integration process and its functioning democratic system. In the coming election period the political leaders will have the opportunity to show the capacity and endurance of political pluralism in Macedonia.
