Die Konferenz „Democracy in Cuba: Seeking Common Initiatives“ ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung mit dem ICDC (International Committee for Democracy in Cuba, www.icdcprague.org). Sie soll Vertreter von Regierungen, der Zivilgesellschaft der Europäischen Union, Lateinamerikas, der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika sowie Vertreter der kubanischen Zivilgesellschaft im Exil zusammenbringen. Ziel ist es, die Möglichkeiten eines demokratischen Wandels in Kuba zu diskutieren und zu erörtern. Kooperationspartner dieser Konferenz sind People in Need, die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, FAES Spanien, Swedish International Liberal Center.
Die internationale Konferenz möchte Politikempfehlungen in der Kubafrage für die Hauptakteure der internationalen Politik EU, Lateinamerika, USA vorschlagen. Vertreter aus Ländern mit Transformationserfahrungen, von Nicht-Regierungsorganisationen und der unabhängigen Zivilgesellschaft sowie Repräsentanten der kubanischen Zivilgesellschaft im Exil werden ihre Diskussionsbeiträge liefern und ihre Erfahrungen austauschen.
