About this series
The 21st century has long been anticipated to be the Asian century reflecting the expectation that the economic rise of the region would have profound global influence. The first epicenter for the COVID-19 pandemic, countries in Asia were the first to place technology at the front and center of containment efforts to develop and adopt tools that can help the public navigate a global health crisis. The infrastructure and fabric for these efforts have been laid out rapidly in the past half-decade as hundreds of millions in the region hopped into the world of social media creating new worlds of entertainment and education but also exposing centuries old societal fractures.
This volume contains a variety of snapshots of how countries and people in South and Southeast Asia are building, adopting, and thinking about the Internet and emerging technologies while simultaneously being changed and challenged by it.
