The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Tanet Charoenmuang, Chairman of the CUSC and professor on political science at Chiang Mai University. Then, various experts on the local administration joined a panel discussion: Mr. Kampong Tepakam, Member of Parliament from Move Forward Party; Dr. Sirimamayvadee Sirathanittra, Mayor of Phibun Mangsahan, Ubon Ratchathani Province; Mr. Teerapol Anmai and Dr. Sanoh Charoenporn from Faculty of Liberal Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University. The panel was moderated by Ms. Peangkamon Manarat from Faculty of Political Science, Ubon Ratchathani University.
The discussion came up with two interesting policy recommendations. One is the adjustment of Thai curricula in secondary and higher educations to include more of Thai local administration issues in both scientific and social studies. Another is the higher engagement of the media and civil society in enthusiastically catalysing the local administration advancement in the country.
