The European Union and Ukraine are interacting in the context of the Union's Eastern Partnership Initiative as well as on a bilateral basis, through the Association Agreement. In 2020, the "20 key achievements of the Eastern Partnership until 2020", which defined the specific goals and objectives of the EaP, will be completed.
Conceptualising the future vision of the Eastern Partnership after 2020 is already being discussed. One month ago, on 18 June 2020, an online summit of the East took place. Germany's presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2020 should set the stage for finalising the EU's vision for the further development of the EaP. The result is expected to be announced during the first physical EaP Summit in March 2021. Although the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has already announced five priorities for the East, Ukraine hopes that its interests will be taken into account as much as possible.
During the discussion, the prospects of Ukraine's European integration in the context of a new vision for the further development of the Eastern Partnership after 2020 and its preparation during the German Presidency of the Council of the EU will be discussed.
To this end, representatives of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU Delegation to Ukraine will express their views while experts from Ukraine and Germany will discuss the following issues:
Conceptual views on the further development of the Eastern Partnership
The economic aspect of the EaP
Energy in the context of the EaP
The event will take place in Ukrainian and English with translation.
