In cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel the KAS Regional Program South Mediterranean brought together experts from the Eastern Mediterranean during a two-day conference from 8-9 June in Malta to discuss recent developments concerning energy security in the region and how these influence potentials for regional cooperation and peace in the region. Energy experts from thinks tanks, academic institutions and the private sector from the Eastern Mediterranean discussed tangible conclusions on new dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean based on economic and commercial realities as well as political considerations of states in the regions and aspirations of external actors. The discussions provided a basis for concrete recommendations on how to utilize the current momentum in order to foster political and economic cooperation and sustainable peace in the region.
