Details
The United Kingdom government is engaged in a huge programme of welfare reform including measures to improve the flexibility of the labour market, get the unemployed back into jobs and support them in work. The past months have also seen broad discussions on the question of how to deal with welfare migration. The debate in the UK has focused on EU migrants and their access to benefits. As in a number of Member States, this has led to recent reforms implemented by the UK government.
Find out more about these reforms and measures to the British welfare system from the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP. And discuss with him as well as Professor Klaus F. Zimmermann, Director of the Institute for the Study of Labour, who has extensively researched on migration in the European Welfare State on Tuesday, 3 June, from 10 am to 11 am, at the Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
