Local news has always been what attracts audiences to journalism and the media. However, local news has long been neglected when it comes to resource allocation to guarantee its future. Despite being treated as a stepchild in many newsrooms, it will always be of great importance, both locally, and sometimes internationally.
The conference in Dar es Salaam will bring together senior journalists and academics from across Africa and Germany to discuss these challenges and offer collaborative solutions to the same. Some of the issues to be tackled include how local newsrooms are dealing with existing challenges such as audience retention, and emerging ones, such as misinformation and disinformation in the age of Artificial Intelligence?
