The economic and political frame of the European Union is considered as advanced model of regional integration. Also in Asia, regional relations are turning into the frame of a deeper institutionalized dialogue. At the same time, the role of sub-state actors such as cities and regions in inter-regional relations has increased.
The Workshop on “Regional Integration in Asia and Europe”, which is held from March 13 to March 14 in Guangzhou, analyses the role of regional leading countries in integration processes in Europe and Asia; discusses consequences of regional integration in Europe and Asia on their relations with the US; and examines the role of sub-state actors in regional integration.
The workshop is jointly organized by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Shanghai, Sun Yat-sen University Guangzhou and the UACES Collaborative Network on EU-China Relations, which includes the ESSCA School of Management at Angers; the College of Europe in Bruges; as well as Graduate School of Politics at FU Berlin.
