Event
Details
On September 30, 2024, we will speak ‘Tacheles’. Together with representatives from politics, science and culture, we want to emphasise the special relationship between Germany and Israel, reflect on the implications of the terrorist attack and discuss how we can effectively fight antisemitism in Germany. Our supporting programme with Israeli and German guests will focus on panels and debates. Among others, we are delighted to welcome Ron Prosor, Ambassador of Israel to the Federal Republic of Germany, Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and Dr. Felor Badenberg, Senator for Justice and Consumer Protection of the State of Berlin. The programme will be accompanied by Halina Hildebrand's new exhibition ‘Sei a Mensch – Israel und der 7. Oktober’. In addition, further aspects of the topic will be examined in workshops. Together with our partners, we will provide space for dialogue and discussion in a variety of workshops. AJC Berlin, the German-Israeli Society, ELNET, Tikvah Institute and the Alfred Landecker Foundation will be at our side to send a clear signal against antisemitism on September 30.

Exhibition
All day
‘Sei a Mensch – Israel und der 7. Oktober’
The exhibition ‘Sei a Mensch’ by photographer Halina Hildebrand provides insights into the suffering and shock that Israel experienced after the Hamas massacre on October 7th, 2023. The photographs avoid shock images and instead focus on the silent, overwhelming pain that characterises people's everyday lives.
Since October 7th, there has been a noticeable rise in antisemitism worldwide - including in Germany. The images aim to call for more solidarity and empathy so that human suffering is not forgotten and to counteract the growing hatred.
Speakers
The event will be framed by other activities in the run-up and aftermath and supported by a high-profile campaign against hatred of Jews.
The atrocities committed by Hamas and the sometimes disturbing reactions of people around the world, some of whom glorify Hamas, show us that antisemitism is far from over - on the contrary, it is growing stronger again. It appears with the same conspiracy narratives and codes that not only show pure hatred of Jews, but also pose a great danger to democracy itself.
As a political foundation, we maintain our work against antisemitism all year round through various formats and activities throughout Germany. With our events, projects, campaigns and publications, we aim to inform, sensitise and educate, encourage reflection and show solidarity. We also provide publications that deal with the history of National Socialism and the Holocaust as well as antisemitism, racism and discrimination. In addition, we use digital formats to mobilise against hatred of Jews: because we should all stand up against antisemitism 365 days a year!
We are committed to inclusion at our events and would like to encourage people with disabilities to participate. If necessary, please let us know about any barriers at the venue. If you require a sign language interpreter, please let us know two weeks before the start of the event.
We are looking forward to your participation!
