The power structure in the Middle East today is marked by a trend towards regional axes. Elements of power - be they diplomatic, economic, cultural, or even media based - are diffused between a number of states and no nation is posed to become the next regional hegemon. The sixth EAG policy paper examines the constraints on each state's quest for hegemonic status and their effects on regional politics and security issues.
