The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung regrets the decision made by the Russian Ministry of Justice to withdraw democracy promoting institutions such as German political foundations from registration in the Russian Federation. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we immediately halted all our activities in Russia and have suspended our work there until further notice.

The Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Professor Dr. Norbert Lammert, explains the following: “We have been working in Russia since 1990 and have run offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The ban of our work is thus as regrettable as it is logical. Under this regime, any serious cooperation for democracy, human rights, and civic engagement is neither possible nor welcome. To this extent, the ban paradoxically confirms our work so far.”
