In the Republic of Albania, strategies and plans have been developed to support youth, focusing on their civic and political engagement through involvement in community issues and decision-making processes. The National Youth Strategy 2022-2029 aims to increase youth participation at the local level and encourage their engagement in democracy.
The report analyzes youth participation in political and civic engagement by using various indicators to assess involvement in conventional and unconventional political activities, as well as community initiatives. The results show low engagement in political activities and a low interest in local decision-making. However, civic engagement indicators in community initiatives and donations are higher, reflecting strong social cohesion.
The report recommends increasing youth awareness of their rights through education and campaigns, as well as promoting a legal and political environment that supports their participation. Youth involvement in decision-making processes and civic initiatives is essential for the sustainable development of local communities and improving the legitimacy of political decisions. The recommendations contribute to advancing the strategies of the Municipality of Has in alignment with the National Youth Strategy 2022-2029.
