What Makes the Vocational Training Scholarship Program Special?
With a successful vocational training, you can not only jumpstart your career but also take on social responsibility and actively shape society! The Konrad Adenauer Foundation has believed this for many years. We are now finally able to support apprentices with a scholarship, helping them advance both professionally and personally. Funding is provided through the pilot program “Talented Apprentices and Skilled Workers in the Scholarship Foundations (BAFF)” by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Providing Guidance, Nurturing Talent
As an apprentice, you face many questions: Practical ones like, “Is there funding or a scholarship for my training? Are there allowances for apprentices or something like vocational training BAföG? Who helps me with financing during my training?” And bigger questions: “Where am I headed, and how can I find my place in society?” The Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s vocational training scholarship program offers guidance and creates space to look beyond your training. Our advisors provide individual support for your vocational and further education, discuss your goals, and help you seize opportunities. In our seminars, you’ll discuss societal developments and challenges like artificial intelligence, sustainable practices, or international conflicts. Specialized training sessions teach you job‑relevant soft skills.
Experience and Shape Community
As a scholarship holder, you’ll join a network of current and former recipients, connecting through interest groups, regional chapters, and thematic networks to exchange ideas and build friendships.
We support you during your training to develop your talents and skills and to engage in society. One thing is clear: our businesses and democratic institutions need capable, responsible professionals and leaders. Interested? Apply now!
3Q
Who are we looking for?
For the Vocational Training Scholarship Program, we seek young people who are passionate about their apprenticeship and eager to contribute socially and politically. We look for individuals who volunteer regularly and use their talents for the benefit of society. We welcome those who identify with Christian democratic values and treat everyone with respect—regardless of gender, background, or religion. We pay special attention to the following criteria:
- Above‑average performance: Your grades in vocational school and evaluations in your training company are good to excellent. You are curious, ask questions, and remain open to topics beyond your professional training.
- Personality: You are motivated and demonstrate the potential to achieve the goals you set for yourself in both your apprenticeship and life.
- Values orientation: You identify with the values upheld by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and take an interest in political issues. You can develop your own well‑considered standpoint on socio‑political questions while remaining tolerant and respectful toward those with differing views.
- Volunteer engagement: You regularly volunteer to support others—whether in political, social, religious, or cultural contexts.

Funding Duration
The funding duration is three years. However, it doesn’t end with graduation. A Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship represents more than financial support—it stands for community, solidarity, and the opportunity to join a vibrant network. Over 17,000 alumni belong to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation network. For current scholars, these alumni serve as important mentors, connecting regularly at events and networking gatherings. This sense of community continues long after the active funding period ends.
Non‑Material Support
We support your professional and personal development. Our advisors discuss your goals with you and provide guidance on your vocational training and further education. We take your individual life circumstances into account and encourage you to explore new opportunities. We value a diverse community where apprentices from different trades—and even students—come together to discuss ideas.
Climate change, artificial intelligence, demographic shifts: in our seminars, you and fellow scholars analyze the most important issues of our time and actively seek solutions. These discussions always cross disciplinary and regional boundaries. We also offer targeted programs for vocational scholars, such as welcome and foundational seminars or workshops on soft‑skill training. You may also join seminars with participants from our student scholarship program—such as study‑abroad seminars in neighboring European countries.
Financial Support
All scholars receive a monthly flat rate of €300 for the duration of their apprenticeship. This funding is provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and can be viewed as a form of training allowance.
For apprentices at vocational schools, a corresponding benefit under Section 12(2)(2) of the BAföG is also available. Additional allowances are granted for study‑abroad stays. After completing your training and upon entering employment, financial support is no longer provided as a flat rate but will be allocated on a case‑by‑case basis within the remaining budget. For more details, please see our funding guidelines.
