Expert panel
Details
Days after European leaders meet for the first formal European Council after the EU elections to discuss the next steps of the enlargement process, we would like to look ahead to the challenges for the next EU-Commission and discuss: What role will the Hungarian Council Presidency play in the coming six months? How might the ongoing war in Ukraine and the upcoming referendum in Moldova affect the pace and nature of EU enlargement? What lessons could be learned from the accession negotiation leading to the 2004 enlargement? And what kind of internal EU reforms could be achieved during the coming legislative period to accommodate the future enlargement wave?
We will discuss these and other questions on Thursday, July 04, 2024, from 12 pm to 2 pm in our event with our speakers: Valentina Superti, Director Western Balkans of DG NEAR, Iulian Groza, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Ivan Nagornyak from the Center for Economic Recovery in Kyiv, Marta Mucznik from the International Crisis Group and Amanda Paul from the EPC. André Härtel, from SWP Brussels, will moderate the discussion.
