As early as 2008, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU adopted limits on pollutants in urban areas. Finding sustainable traffic solutions will be one of the key factors that decide if these requirements can be fulfilled.

What is the role of communes in this important process? Must we expect new measures from the European Union if the level of pollutants does not decrease? We will discuss these and other questions in the next instalment of the KAS-DStGB parliamentary breakfast series, organised jointly by the European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB). As speakers we welcome Dr. Markus Pieper (Member of the European Parliament) and Carsten Hansen (Head of Traffic Unit, DStGB).
