Details

Firstly, Ambassador Dr. Hans-Dieter Lucas, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the North Atlantic Council, is holding an impulse speech, in which he summarizes and comments on the events of the peak meeting. In the subsequent lecture by Prof. Dr. Calliess, the security policy of the European Union (EU) will be highlighted with particular focus on the Commission's reflection paper, which is published at the beginning of June. The EU is particularly vulnerable to instability in neighboring regions and by foreign influence. A satisfactory solution can only be found if there is no either-or-thinking in relation to NATO and the EU, but if it is said: Our security is guaranteed by the interplay of European and transatlantic cooperation.
