Details

"How will the region of Central and Eastern Europe develop in the following years?". This question will guide us through the programme of the conference, during which we intend to examine the geopolitical situation of the Central and Eastern European countries from different angles”. Geographically, the countries lie at the intersection of overlapping, even competing spheres of interest. The region is at the centre of an intensifying antagonism between NATO and Russia. In addition, external forces are enhancing in the eastern part of the EU in an attempt to expand their influence in the region. Today, more than thirty years after the end of the Cold War, the geopolitical position of the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) is strengthened. How do the states assess the geopolitical situation in the region, and what function can and do they want to assume in terms of foreign and security policy? We would like to discuss in depth these and other questions.

In two conference sessions we want to intensively debate different national, international and global perspectives on the geopolitical situation in Central and Eastern Europe. Additionally, we are going to outline the geopolitical interests and ambitions of these countries during a panel discussion while also discussing the role of the European Union (EU). The conference “Geopolitics in Central and Eastern Europe” will take place from Monday, 2nd May 2022 from 09:30 to 18:30 (CET), to Tuesday, 3rd May 2022 from 10:00 to 13:30 (CET), online via Zoom.
