The renowned author and poet Serhij Zhadan takes a close look at the reality of the lives of people in the Ukraine since its independence. Special attention is devoted to Donbas, his home region. His latest novel “The Orphanage” is regarded as the biggest success of his published works. The event will consist of a lecture of his novel “The Orphanage” and an ensuing panel discussion with the following experts: Serhij Zhadan, author, poet and translator. Rebecca Harms, Chair of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and Member of the Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee in the European Parliament. Michael Gahler, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Standing Rapporteur on Ukraine in the European Parliament. The panel discussion will be moderated by Anne Gellinek, Bureau Chief of ZDF Brussels.
Simultaneous interpretation into German, English and Ukrainian will be available. The panel discussion will be followed by a reception.
