Latin America and the Caribbean have one of the richest sources of natural renewable energy of the world. They have a huge potencial of non conventional renewable energy and it’s estimated that if the region would explote just a portion of its non hydraulic renewable capacity, it could satisfy the demand of energy in the growing economies of the region. By the other hand, there are countries like Germany that are in the middle of energy transition with the objetive that 60% of de energy consumption would come from renewable energy by 2050.
Against this background , the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America ( EKLA-KAS ) , in collaboration with the Universidad del Pacífico (UP ) , will conduct a two-day event entitled " Good governance for energy transition" . The first day, an Specialized Seminar " Alternative Energy : exchange of experiences for the development of policies in Latin America and Germany " will take place, while the second day, the International Public Discussion "Tackling Climate Change : Prospects for renewable energies to the COP21 " will be held. Both events will be attended by experts and politicians during the 14th and 15th of September in Lima, Peru.
