In July 2015, a first workshop was held in Mexico on the subject of energy security in Latin America, organized by the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS-EKLA). The aim was to determine a first general impression of the state of energy security policy debate in Latin America. Experts from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina inter alia were invited. The purpose of the discussion was to gather opinion of international experts to produce a current study on energy security in Latin America.
Following the first workshop in Mexico, experts from Latin America now also meet with German experts within the framework of a two days workshop on the topic of energy security, to encompasses a transatlantic perspective to the topic. The German delegation is invited to give its own impulses on the subjects of gas supply, energy security, geopolitics and international climate policy.
