Workshop
Details
Climate change is one of the most important challenges facing our time and it poses serious threats to human and natural systems. Strategies to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) emissions and to anticipate and adapt societies and ecosystems to the negative effects of climate change will require global collective action and massive investments.
The Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America (EKLA-KAS), jointly with the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of the Business Administration School of Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-EAESP) will host two days of an international workshop with experts to discuss climate change, its economic impacts and financial implications for Latin America. Both workshops will be held in São Paulo, Brazil, on 23rd and 24th of September, 2015 discussing, the first one, “Climate Economics and Finance: implications for Latin America” and, the second, “Carbon Markets in Latin America".
This international workshop aims at discussing the required improvements in public policies and private decisions to create the incentives to nudge behaviors and drive the required public and private funds to make the transition to a low carbon economy. Following up on the discussions made in the first day of the international workshop, on the second day we will organize a discussion on various experiences with carbon markets, analyzing similarities and differences, pointing out the difficulties and challenges faced and seizing potential leverage points in the Latin American region.
On the 23rd of September begins the first day of conferences, which will take place at Auditório Itaú da FGV (Rua 9 de Julho, 2029), starting at 08:30am.
On the 24th of September, at Intercontinental Hotel, Sala Giorgi (Alameda Santos, 1123), the second day of the conference will start at 08:30am.
