Details
During these months , the countries are presenting their National Determined Intended Contributions (INDCs) , which represent the political will of governments as to the efforts undertaken to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and adapt to the impacts of climate change. These efforts are key parts of the new climate deal to be agreed in Paris in December 2015 during the cop21 , and also represent the opportunity to articulate the development priorities of countries with climate actions .
Ambassadors +1 is a platform of the Community Generación +1 , a Libélula initiative to boost youth participation in governance of climate change. From this platform, youth people with knowledge and competences are committed to impulse a vission of sustainability focused on low carbon development and climate resilient on the decision making and public policies to a new global climate agreement. To date, 30 youth people from Perú and other regions from Latin America (Argentina, Costa Rica, México, Panamá, Paraguay and Venezuela) have been selected to participate in this platform.
From 24 to August 29 , these 30 young people will gather at the "International Seminar Ambassadors +1: Young people in the governance of climate change" , with the purpose of generating a youthful position based on evidence related to climate change governance . In addition , they will develop a plan of youth citizen participation in local and international spheres aimed at influencing national contributions and international climate negotiations. The International Seminar will be open to public in training spaces : keynote speeches , roundtables and discussions with renowned specialists and leaders in different subjects , in which the participation of more young people is expected.
The "International Seminar Ambassadors +1: Young people in the governance of climate change" is organized by Generación +1, a Libélula iniciative, and by the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America (EKLA) of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), with the support of Public Front COP20/COP21 os the Minister of Environmentof Peru, United Nations Development Program UNDP, Cambia.pe of the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law, Clima de Cambios of PUCP and the Delegation of the European Union in Peru.
