Seminar

The challenge of embracing the environmental dimension becomes more complex the more we approach the citizens, as in the case of local governments. The environment has been a concern in almost all Latin American nations - an aspect that is reflected in the proliferation of national laws and government agencies responsible for these themes such as ministries or departments. However, when we analyze the variety and heterogeneity of small cities and towns that compose and articulate our territories, we see that there is still much to be done, both politically and institutionally, but also with regard to the specific technical management these topics require. That is why we consider it essential to generate a debate that promotes "local environmental institutions", in order to collaborate with local sustainable development, which is necessarily complemented by regional and national development projects .
Three International Seminars will be held in cities of Chile, Bolivia and Argentina on the new challenges of Local Policies for Sustainable Human Development, with the presence of prominent political actors and experts from different countries. The topic of the first seminar to be held in Salta , Argentina is "Water as a Scarce and Necessary Resource - Challenges for its Sustainable Use."
