FORUM FOR TRADE AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS
The Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF) with the support of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is organizing a second national forum for Trade and Business Associations (TBAs) for southern sector Ghana. This is a follow up to the first forum held in Kumasi for the northern sector. The theme is
Strengthening capacities of Trade and Business Associations to help in accelerating growth of private sector
From 12th to May 14th May, 2008 at Airport West Hotel, Accra at 9:00am.
The forum is designed to:
- Create awareness of the importance of TBAs in a nation’s private sector development
- To discuss building the capacities of TBAs to better offer enhanced services to members
- Enhance the role TBAs play in the country’s private sector growth agenda
The focus of the forum will be on making TBAs prominent in the country's development agenda as the private sector is seen as "the engine of growth" to drive the country towards attaining middle income status. Business associations' executives will be sharing their experiences and knowledge on the above theme. They will also share their ideas in transforming the business associations in the country.
Two resource persons will be making presentations on the following subject areas:
- Making TBAs viable in the country’s private sector development agenda
- World Bank Group initiatives in addressing private sector development challenges
These two topics will be the bases for discussion for participants at the forum. Recommendations from these discussions will be used to enhance the capacities of these associations. Participants at the forum will be from TBAs, Professional Bodies, Academia, and Policy Makers among others and drawn from the Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Volta and Western regions of Ghana.
