Asia and Pacific Region occupies a special place in India’s foreign policy outlook. Along with geographic proximity, India enjoys historical, cultural and religious links with the whole of the Asia Pacific Region including its sub-regional Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. There has been a concerted effort to revitalize India’s relation with countries of the region especially with those having cultural linkages.
This conference aims to study India’s cultural expressions in Asia-Pacific region in a broader social context of institutions, power relations and history. The major objectives of the conference are:
- To discuss the India-Asia-Pacific interactions over the period of history and relate its impacts in contemporary scenario.
- To understand India’s cultural expressions in the Asia-Pacific region in a broader social context of institutions, power relations and history.
- To discuss India’s relations with the countries of Asia-Pacific at both bilateral and multilateral levels for a robust and enduring economic collaboration.
- To collaborate for learning lessons from each other on issues of comprehensive human security including gender, health, education, clean energy, water, agriculture, industry and institutional partnerships for sustainable development of the region.
- To analyze the role of India and countries of Asia Pacific collaboration to help achieve SAARC and ASEAN’s aims of promoting economic growth, social progress and evolutionary process towards socio-culturalism.
- To promote exchange of scholars from India and the Asia-Pacific region for a shared platform to build a network of scholars and institutions to develop multidisciplinary research.
