Details

The authors' workshop is part of the newly launched KAS and NIAS International Peace Research Initiative (IPRI). The earlier annual publication "Armed Conflicts in South Asia", which was supported by the KAS, focused exclusively on South Asia. The new study "Peace and Conflict: An International Primer" is globally oriented, but it refers in particular to South Asia. As part of the new approach, the study will focus on one topic each year without losing the primary focus - providing an annual overview of conflict and peace. The focus of the first workshop, the results of which will be published in the new study in mid-2019, is global peace processes. The presence of many state and non-state actors, the role of civil society, space and rules for negotiation, negotiating tools, independent mediators and the level of external support are some of the key factors and play an essential role in maintaining peace processes. The authors of the study will present and discuss their findings during the workshop.
