Waste disposal has been and remains a major environmental issue in India. In order to find a solution to this challenge the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung brought together a group of policy makers from India and Germany, in order to foster the exchange of experience, knowledge, and innovative approaches. As part of the programme, Christian Hirte met representatives of politics, business and industry, academia and civil society. The topics discussed involved different aspects of waste management, such as how to make solid waste treatment more efficient, how to reduce the volume of solid waste, and how to improve recycling processes.
