During his visit to India, Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Germany, met Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of the BJP, Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament and National Spokesperson of the BJP, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Member of Parliament and Chief Whip of the BJP in the Lok Sabha and Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, Head, Foreign Affairs Cell and Overseas Friends of the BJP as well as the German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner. Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer, Member of the German Parliament and Spokesperson for Economic and Energy Affairs of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group, who participated in a political dialogue programme organized by KAS, was also present at the roundtable discussion. The topics discussed were bilateral relations between India and Germany as well as India and Europe, global strategies to fight terrorism as well as the broadening of the economic relations between both countries and cooperation in the fields of education and skill development. Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble appreciated the good cooperation between India and Germany and expressed interest in deeper bilateral talks between the two longstanding partner countries. Furthermore, the Federal Minister of Finance underlined the importance of international exchange and cooperation of the governing parties in India and Germany.
