Event reports
Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of KAS in India, informed the participants of the delegation about the work of the KAS in India and discussed various political topics. Regarding the foreign policy challenges of India, he explained that India feels increasingly encircled by China's large infrastructure investments in South Asia. India is currently trying to counter the Chinese ambitions in the Indian Ocean region in two ways: on the one hand with its own investment projects such as the investments in the Iranian port of Chabahar and on the other hand by the cooperation with other states. This offers new opportunities for cooperation with India for European states, especially Germany, Mr. Rimmele explained.
The participants of the delegation were very interested in a large variety of topics. They discussed about the divide between rich and poor, health care and the state of digitization in India as well as the Indian relationship with Afghanistan.
