Event reports
The objectives of these five dialogues are to highlight the specific environmental challenges in different ecosystems and to find solutions for the problem of climate change whilst taking into account the environmental peculiarities. The first three dialogues about the mountain, the desert and the marine and coastal ecosystem, which were organized and conducted by KAS in cooperation with The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) and the Indian Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) in Shimla; KAS, TERI and the National Law University in Jodhpur as well as KAS and TERI in Goa, addressed the specific ecological challenges in the Himalayas, Thar and the whole coastal region in India and looked at the various opinions of the stakeholders from the areas of research, politics and education. Also, the fourth seminar discussed the special needs of the ecosystem “Plateaus and Hills”, and therefore was held in Bangalore, which is situated in the Deccan-Plateau. The last of the TERI-KAS dialogues is planned for 2014 regarding the ecosystems “plains” in Delhi.
