During the seminar which was held at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, in his key note speech highlighted the importance of an inclusive growth as one of the main pillars of India’s planning strategy. Inclusive Growth is an effort to bridge the gaps in society and to achieve homogeneity in the structure, to ensure that fruits of development are equally distributed and last but not the least that everyone becomes a stakeholder in the aspirations and achievements of the economy. The inauguration of the event was attended by the Chief Justice of India, Shri Justice P. Sathasivam, who presided over the six working sessions. Also the German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, was among the various dignitaries who attended the seminar together with more than 1.000 judges, prosecutors, lawyers, legal experts, and students of leading law schools from all over India. Main focus of the working sessions were different aspects of the situation of the socially and economically disadvantaged in India and strategies of India’s quest for inclusive development.
