EIC-scholarship holders Atika Pasha and Leslie Kumar Mani shortly before leaving for their studies to Germany. The department of European and International Cooperation (EIC) of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung sponsors socially or politically engaged students for one semester in Germany.
This year KAS–India supports Atika Pasha and Leslie Kumar Mani with a scholarship from the EIC. Miss Pasha will study at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen during the summer semester of 2011. She has successfully completed her bachelor's degree in economics at the prestigious Delhi University and will soon finish her master's degree in labor economics, econometrics and development policy.
Mr. Mani will conduct one research semester at the Free University of Berlin in 2011. Mr. Mani holds a bachelor's degree (with honors) in history at Loyal College in Chennai, India, and completed two successful master studies at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in politics and European studies. His thesis "Membership Norms and the EU Enlargement Process: The Case of Turkish accession" was awarded as best thesis of the year 2009 at his college. In August 2009 Mani began his PHD-studies at the Center for European Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India.
