Go Green Go Solar: For a Better India Tomorrow

One-day Regional Conclave

Madras Management Association (MMA) organized a one-day Regional Conclave on the theme “Go Green Go Solar: For a Better India Tomorrow” with the support of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) on Monday, 29th July 2013.

The main objective of the Conclave was to give the working professionals/entrepreneurs an exposure to the latest trends in application of technologies and insight on solar power as an option for high performance.

It is imperative that adoption of green technologies will not only help to save resources, but will also give product manufacture a competitive advantage over the others. While delivering Welcome & Opening Remarks, Mr M Subramanian, Chairman, MMA Trichy Chapter spoke that at present solar power could be produced at a cost of Rs.7.50 per unit.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Jagathguru Maha Maharisihi Paranjothiar addressed the delegates on Infinite Energy available in the Universe and also requested the industrialists/businessmen to have a cooperative approach in making the solar energy venture a success in India. Mr C Narasimhan, Chairman, Raasi Green Earth Energy Pvt Ltd, Bangalore in his Keynote Address spoke on the current energy scenario and necessity of solar energy. He also shared on his Solar Energy Project in southern India addressed the delegates on Solar Power in Tamil Nadu.

During the Four Business Sessions and Panel Discussion that followed, presentations were made on necessity of solar energy, insight into PV Panels harnessing solar energy, sustainable carbon free development, challenges in grid connected solar power plant, roof top solar power-designs consideration, demystifying solar purchase obligations for HT Consumers of TNEB, challenges in storing solar power, financing options and subsidy-State & Central, economics for low cost installation, land availability Vs roof top solar and customization in solar applications.

General Manager, SIDBI, Mr Raman, DGM-Services, Amco Batteries Ltd, Mr K S Rangachari, Cluster Project Manager, L&T Constructions, Mr Tanmay Sinha, DGM-Sales, Tata Power Solar and Gp Capt R Vijayakumar, VSM, the Executive Director of MMA.

Potential delegates willing to invest in solar power felt intellectually empowered to rely amply on renewable energy for future needs after taking part in the deliberations of the Conclave.

The Conclave attracted 270 potential delegates from industries, educational institutions, hospitals and hotels from Southern Region. The delegates found investment in solar power ideal since the cost of power production has come down significantly over the years.
