The Dialogue on „Europe at Crossroads – current Political and Economic Challenges“ was organized in collaboration with the KAS and its partner-organization, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). MP Dr. Andreas Schockenhoff, Member of the German Federal Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag for Foreign Affairs, Affairs of the European Union and Defence Policy discussed together with Amb. Lalit Mansingh, Former Foreign Secretary of India and more than 200 guests about the Indian and European perspectives on the current political and economic problems. Priority in these discussions was the debt crisis in Europe, also known as “Euro-Crisis” and its consequences for the global economy. It was underlined that although the European-Indian collaboration is in place for many years, there is still plenty potential for improvement. Both Mansingh as well as Schockenhoff pleaded for a more intense collaboration of the sub-continent with Europe in all areas of interest.
More than 200 representatives of the German, European and Indian political circle, diplomats, bureaucrats, economist, scientists and media took part in the event. The general secretary of FICCI, Dr. Rajiv Kumar and the Chargé d´Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany gave the welcome address and the inaugural remarks.
