The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. awards full scholarships for a master's degree (four semesters of standard study time) or a doctorate degree at a university in Germany.
We are looking for socially or politically committed students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines[1], who can prove that they have German language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Excellent academic performance and a positive attitude towards democracy, pluralism and human rights are also required.
In addition to financial support, our scholarship holders benefit in particular from

- An extensive seminar program to accompany the course and the opportunity to organize seminars and events independently,

Application documents
Master's scholarships
The following documents must be enclosed with the fully completed and signed application form:
- Letter of motivation (max. 1.5 pages),
- Tabular CV in German,
- Copies of university certificates with list of grades and proof of achievement as well as German translations of these documents[2],
- Report from a university lecturer who assesses the applicant's professional qualifications,
- Proof of voluntary work,
- Proof of German language skills at level B2 (at least B1 German level at the time of application).[3]
Doctoral scholarship
When applying for a doctoral scholarship, the following documents must also be submitted:
- A detailed justification of the dissertation project (problem outline, information on the planned methodological approach, work and time schedule) in German or English,
- An expert opinion from the doctoral supervisor in which the dissertation project is addressed,
- A Report from the faculty or department confirming admission to doctoral studies without conditions (if already available).
[1] Both courses at the university of applied sciences and at the university are funded. Second degree courses, second doctorates and postgraduate courses in medicine are excluded from funding.
[2] In the application process, it is sufficient to send the university certificates, proof of performance, reports and the German translations to: Info.Zentralasien@kas.de. English-language documents do not need to be translated. In the event of acceptance, these documents (except for the two reports) must then be certified by a notary. The originals of the certificates and translations remain in the hands of the applicant.
[3] A language level of level B2 must be achieved at the start of the course. In exceptional cases, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will finance a language course (level B2) in Germany before the start of the course.
