Mr. Ploss's visit to Lebanon was inaugurated with a purpose-driven agenda, aimed at nurturing a more robust German-Lebanese relationship. His program encompassed a visit to the UNHCR refugee camp in Jabe Jannine, located in the Bekaa Plain. Following that, he held discussions with UNHCR officials, to better understand the situation of Syrian refugees and the challenges they encounter. In addition to these engagements, Mr. Ploss held meetings with members of the Lebanese Parliament, including MP Ghassan Hasbani of the Lebanese Forces and MP Elias Hankach of the Kataeb Party. He also received informative briefings from German Ambassador Andreas Kindl, as well as from Commander of the UNIFIL Maritime Task Force, Rear Admiral Dirk Gärtner .
Furthermore, the visit featured meetings with representatives from civil society, and encompassed encounter with families of the victims of the Beirut port explosion, as well as a group of KAS scholarship holders.
On the final day of his visit, Mr. Ploss, along with KAS Lebanon, engaged with H.E. Dr. Nasser Yassin, the Minister of Environment, to exchange thoughts on environmental policies and their implications.
