The future of local governance is a topic of paramount importance in the current global context. In today's rapidly changing global landscape, local governance faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Urbanization, technological advancements, climate change, demographic shifts, and evolving social dynamics are reshaping the way communities are governed. Therefore, it is essential to understand the emerging trends and transformations in local governance and envision a future where local governance is adaptive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all residents. This is vital for policymakers, scholars, and practitioners to navigate the complexities of local governance effectively and to understand the evolving landscape of local governance. It is also in line with one of the five enablers in Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ), emphasizing the importance of excellent governance and the execution of strategies of SMJ and the Sabah Structure Plan 2033.
This one-day seminar blends physical and online participation, featuring experts discussing seven key topics in local governance. Expect insights, case studies, and successful initiatives from a diverse range of stakeholders. It aims to explore emerging trends shaping local governance's adaptation to societal needs, technological impact, and global challenges.
