The significance of African Journalism in Exile was underlined when KAS Media Africa participated with two eminent journalists in mid-May at the Exile Media Forum in Hamburg, Germany. At the gathering, organised by our partners of the Körber-Stiftung, Fathi Osman from Eritrea and Abdalle Ahmed Mumin from Somalia narrated their experiences of being exiled for political and security reasons. At the two-day-conference which focussed on the situation of Russian and Ukrainian journalists having to flee their countries, Osman and Mumin underlined the importance of contacts and the challenge of losing significance for discussions back at home. Both journalists from Eritrea and Somalia are contributors to the book "Hounded. African Journalists in Exile", published by KAS Media Africa in 2021.
