The traditional Adenauer Lecture, organized in cooperation between the KAS Media Programme for South East Europe and the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of Sofia University, started with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Vesselina Valkanova, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of Sofia University. She gave a short speech in which she addressed the topic of the event and emphasized the importance of the Adenauer Lecture. From the side of the Media Programme, Hendrik Sittig, Head of the KAS Media Programme, welcomed the audience. He recalled how people used to watch television just a few years ago and how rapidly media use has changed.
In her presentation entitled "Television is dead - long live television!", Prof. Dr. Claudia Nothelle explained how linear television has changed over the years and what measures broadcasters should take to remain present, especially with younger viewers. For example, TikTok, Instagram and Co. are becoming increasingly important in modern reporting. Linear television must also open up to these platforms and use them for its own benefit. It is also important to work with influencers. They enjoy a great deal of trust among the younger generation.
