The traditional Adenauer Lecture, organized in cooperation between the KAS Media Program for South East Europe and the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Sofia University, started with the presentation of the Bulgarian translation of the well-known German handbook "ABC des Journalismus" at the Faculty. Hendrik Sittig, Director of the KAS Media Programme, emphasized that for many years the book has provided a compact and understandable overview of all the topics that students, university lecturers and practicing journalists should know for their work. On behalf of the University, Dr. Svetlana Stankova, Vice Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the attendees.

The event then continued with the Adenauer Lecture. As correspondent for Southeast Europe of FAZ, Michael Martens talked to the students and lecturers of Sofia University as well as numerous journalists about his many years of experience in the Balkans. How does one become a correspondent? Where does one get information abroad? How do interviews with presidents, for example, come about? These were just some of the questions Martens answered during his lecture. He also described some unexpected situations that arose during his work in the field. In this context, Martens gave some practical advices that could be useful for a correspondent's work. The event ended with a discussion with the students and university lecturers present.
