The first results were now presented in a workshop and put up for a discussion with digital media experts. Conclusion: Contrary to presumed expectations, hate speech is no longer a mass phenomenon in the internet fora of the West Balkan country. This notwithstanding, moderation and regulation are desirable, yet they should not suffocate the “power of freedom” of the internet.

Another central topic of the workshop were the challenges for online journalists resulting from the so called citizen journalism.

The complete study will soon be published in Sarajevo. It will contain recommendations about how measures of journalistic self regulation can contribute to freedom in responsibility in the internet too.
