Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Dialogue

WAD was conducting a 5-day workshop for 50 Namibian Police Officers. The workshop was held at the WAD Head Office in Windhoek focussing on Gender Based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence Dialogues with Men.

The workshop aimed at capacititating male officers on different strategies in the approach of addressing GBV collectively as men. The officers were also taught about different family law acts such as Married Persons Equality Act, Maintenance Act, Domestic Violence Act, Rape Act, Child Care and protection Act, etc.

The participation was outstanding. The men were interactive and open to discuss their previous experiences. The way forward is currently under discussion but the men vowed to be the agents of change at their homes, work, communities and in their circle of friends.
