This forum for the different committees of the National Assembly, ministries, security agencies, media, and civil society organizations will be reviewing the security situation since the return to democracy in 1999 across all the geo-political zones. As Nigeria has just concluded its general elections and new governments in different states and at the federal level are planning to start their terms in office, protection of lives and properties should be top on their agenda. The factors or challenges that can hinder the new government to deliver on this important mandate shall be identified.
Prof. Oshita O. Oshita, the former Director-General of Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) will lead with a presentation, while Hon. Rimamnde Shawulu Kwewum, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army; Emmanuel A. Adeoye, Deputy Commandant General of NSCDC; and Ayokunle Fagbemi, executive director, Centre for Peace-building and Socio-economic Resources Development (CepSERD) will throw more light on this topic in a panel discussion.
