Seminar
Details
The North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria has remained a hotbed for terrorism, insurgency, armed banditry, kidnapping, and violent extremism. With the attention of various security agencies and development partners directed towards Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, (the theatre of the war on terrorism), security within and around the adjourning states of Bauchi and Gombe need to be strengthened to contain and combat the levels of banditry and criminality from escalating to dangerous dimensions. To foster understanding and cooperation among security agencies and also with citizens, KAS is providing platforms for productive engagement among the various security agencies to work out modalities for collaboration, as well as ways of cooperating with civilian citizens in order to enhance information sharing, confidence building and trust to effectively combat insecurity in the North-East zone. The seminar would set roadmaps for cooperation and modalities for repetitive engagements to enshrine sustainability in the interventions designed to overcome the rising insecurity in the two states. The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
