The 2011 elections are critical for Nigeria’s democratic future. If the elections are rigged once again, or when the citizens loose hope and do not participate, then the country faces troublesome times.
KAS and partners therefore focus their radio programme „Vision Nigeria“ in the first half of the year on the elections and their results. In each of the five locations Abuja, Enugu, Ibadan, Kaduna, and Port Harcourt millions of Nigerians are informed one hour every week through the political education programme. Important topics are: What distinguishes a good politician? What are the manifestos promising? Which priorities do the citizens have? How does the election process work? Which parties and candidates are contesting? How can the electorate contribute to fair elections? How can electoral conflicts be avoided or managed? What is the impact of the election result at federal and state level for the future of a country?
In altogether some 120 hours millions of Nigerians are offered high quality voter education.
