Roundtable on Cooperation of CSOs and the Media in the Preparation for the coming Elections

On March 4, 2014, about 30 participants from Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and media practitioners met at the KAS Abuja office to assess the cooperation between CSOs and the Media, especially in view of the coming elections.

Mr. Laz Apir, the programme manager of Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), a coalition of civil society organizations in Nigeria with main responsibility of monitoring elections, delivered a paper on the perspectives of CSOs on how to partner with the media in the preparations for the coming elections in 2015. While the political editor of Blueprint newspaper, Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrauf presented the views of the media practitioners, highlighting their challenges and the high expectations from the public.

At the end of the roundtable the participants submitted recommendations for a way forward, which are collated and can be viewed of this webpage.

This was the first roundtable in a series that will come this year and give a platform to enhance the cooperation between CSO and the Media.
