The results have shown indications that the educational system is not fully prepared for implementation of distance learning concept, and the capacities of the teachers and school administration are very low when it comes to distance learning education.
One of the main reasons for this is that digital tools were rarely used in regular times or:
- 64% of teachers either rarely (once in two weeks or once per month), or have never used digitals tools in classes
- In 81% of the cases only Facebook and What up/Viber were used
- 51% of students were never trained by their teachers to use digital tools
Furthermore, the implementation of the distance learning showed lack of skills and coordination among institutions, schools and students:
- 61% of the teachers have used presentations and sending e-mail lessons as a way for transferring knowledge.
- 74% of the teachers and 42% of the students reported that they have spent more time teaching and learning during distance learning.
- Students rate the quality of the distance learning as average or very good in 55% of the cases.
- 33% of the teachers think that the model of distance learning is suitable for students
- In 15% of the cases students have never had online classes held
Teachers reported that they lacked technical resources (lap-tops) for delivering classes through distance learning
- 60% of the students have used smart-phone for distance learning
- 63% of the teachers think that distance learning does offer a good base for fair grading of students
These results will be presented to the Ministry of Education and the general public alongside specific recommendations for improving the concept of distance learning in case the COVID-19 crisis prevents the regular start of the school year. The recommendations also focus on the advancement of the usage of digital tools in classroom in regular times.
